Minimalist maximum

A revolutionary approach to a traditional functional element. That’s exactly what inspired the creation of the new MINIMAL 2.0 handle, which offers a fundamentally essential innovation – the Czech manufacturer M&T has integrated a WC/bathroom lock directly into its surface.

Maximum functionality in a perfectly minimalist whole… This is the MINIMAL 2.0 handle, into which a discreet system for comfortable locking has been integrated with watchmaker precision. “At the top surface of the MINIMAL 2.0 handle lies a small sliding mechanism that serves as a WC/bathroom lock,” states Roman Ulich, the designer of the newly conceived handle with its uniquely designed locking system and also the main designer of M&T, the Czech manufacturer of designer door hardware, and continues: “Until now, in cases where a door lock was required, it was necessary to install a separate rosette below the handle with a small lock that operates a latch. The MINIMAL 2.0 handle brings a small revolution in that it does not address the lock, but rather the movement of the handle. By switching the upper projection, the handle is locked, so it cannot be turned and thus the door cannot be opened.” The paired handle also features a hidden emergency release mechanism on the bottom side for opening doors from outside a locked room. However, the MINIMAL 2.0 handle is also available in a version without locking to allow matching hardware throughout the interior.

The base material of the handle is the same massive brass as its predecessor, and it also offers a choice of a total of ten surface finishes – matte black titanium, matte brass titanium, matte brown titanium, matte chrome titanium, matte nickel, brushed matte nickel, shiny chrome, natural brass, polished brass, and brushed black chrome.

As is evident from the name, the MINIMAL 2.0 handle has its design and structural basis in the MINIMAL handle. “The MINIMAL hardware is the most popular handle among architects, developers, and investors for its simple, clean design. Therefore, we decided to build on its roots but to revitalize its appearance,” says Roman Ulich from M&T and continues: “We gave the MINIMAL 2.0 handle a new beveled shape and slightly rounded straight edges. Compared to its prototype, it has organic features, which adds to its uniqueness.”
