A new production hall for colored plastic profiles of the company Schüco was opened in Weißenfels, the headquarters of the plastics division

The production plant for plastic window and door profiles of Schüco International KG in Weißenfels, Germany, has a new production hall as of March. Here, 11 automated lines will manufacture colored plastic profiles. According to Andreas Engelhardt, CEO of Schüco, more than 13 million meters of colored profiles were produced in 2012, exhausting capacity for laminating. The company invested more than 11 million EUR in this new project, which took 17 months to build. The result is a production hall of 6,300 m2, including necessary facilities, from offices and social areas to logistics and handling.

The share of colored profiles in the total production of the Schüco plastic division is currently 30%, with a continuously increasing trend. The company holds more than 380,000 m² of foils in 70 different color shades and surface structures in stock. The intention is to be able to respond quickly and flexibly to individual customer requirements. This is significantly facilitated by a sufficient number of laminating lines, where the foil is permanently applied to the profile. The newly built hall has space for a total of 14 laminating lines.

The hall is equipped with the latest technology, ensuring a smooth production process. Special attention is deserved for the fully automatic feeder for preparing cut foils, 11 highly automated laminating lines, and a rack storage for 1,000 rolls of foil. There is also a smaller production line that can quickly and economically laminate smaller orders.

The completed investment confirms that the headquarters of Schüco's plastic profile division is undoubtedly in Weißenfels, a city located half an hour's drive from Leipzig. From here, Schüco colored plastic profiles are distributed throughout Europe, including customers from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The company has become an attractive employer and a socially responsible business in the region. Currently, it collaborates with 60 apprentices, who have the best chance of joining Schüco as permanent employees after completing their studies.
