Ostrava

On Friday, January 14, 2022, interested investors have an exceptional opportunity to visit the unique high-rise building on Ostrčilova Street. In December 2021, the city council decided to initiate a procurement procedure for the public contract titled "Ostrava Skyscraper."

The intention of the statutory city of Ostrava is to renovate the tower building in an attractive location in the city center, in the immediate vicinity of the New Town Hall and the Ostravice riverbank, into a comfortable residential building designed by the renowned architectural studio of Eva Jiřičná and Petr Vágner. The project also includes the enhancement of parking capacities through the construction of a parking garage in close proximity to the residential building for its residents and the public. Ostrava is interested in realizing the construction in cooperation with the private sector.

In addition to the procurement documentation, potential investors will be able to familiarize themselves with the specifics of the building during the site visit and take these facts into account in their submitted bids. Representatives from selected departments of the Ostrava City Hall, competent to answer any questions from participants, will be present during the visit. The tour will take place on January 14, 2022, at 10 AM, starting at the main entrance of building no. 2691 on Ostrčilova Street 269/4 in Ostrava. If the date is inconvenient for interested parties, investors can request another date as stipulated by the procurement conditions on the city profile.

The city will be involved in the project even after the construction is completed, actively as the owner of 15 out of the projected total of 70 to 85 apartments and a significant part of the parking garage itself. Ostrava's unique offer is not just that it will be the first customer of the investor, but also that the investor will be the one who prepares the design for the building renovation and the construction of the parking garage according to their vision and requirements, and subsequently realizes it according to the developed documentation. The basis for the investor's design will be documents prepared by the AI Design studio, which will be binding concerning the main architectural elements of the building and parking garage design that characterize the work and maintain the authorship of Eva Jiřičná and Petr Vágner.

The investor will also be bound by design standards further defining the apartments and parking garage acquired by the city, which will ensure a precisely defined future subject of the transfer (both for the contract and initially for the preparation of price offers from suppliers). Other documents are merely supportive, developing possible solutions for the construction that the investor may, but does not have to, follow in the design.

The deadline for submitting bids is set for March 31, 2022, by 10 AM. Interested parties can find all the information and conditions for this public contract on the city profile or on the website https://pozemky.ostrava.cz/ostravsky-mrakodrap/.

The comprehensive design for the renovation of the building was prepared by the renowned Czech studio AI – DESIGN, led by the world-famous architect and designer Eva Jiřičná and architect Petr Vágner.
