The field of door systems today is dominated by minimalism and design purity, criteria that traditional casings no longer meet. The solution therefore lies in concealed frames, which can either be completely casing-free or come in a version with subtle visible framing.

The technological basis of concealed frames is made up of rigid profiles made from anodized aluminum, which form either solely the internal concealed component that covers the external paint or wall finish in the AKTIVE variant, or allow for the installation of a visible aluminum frame in the EMOTIVE variant. The desired design purity of this casing-free solution is not disturbed by door hinges, as the concealed 3D adjustable hinges are installed in the frame.

“Concealed frames of types AKTIVE and EMOTIVE can be used both in traditional masonry and drywall partitions. They are prepared for the thickness of the finished partition starting at 125 mm and higher. The clear passage then ranges from 600 to 1000 mm for single-leaf doors and from 1250 to 2050 mm for double-leaf doors. The height can be in standard sizes of 1970 and 2100 mm or atypical from 1975 up to 3700 mm,” says Petr Paksi, Sales Director of J.A.P., the only Czech manufacturer of concealed frames.

It offers a solution completely without an external frame. The construction of the internal aluminum system AKTIVE is adapted to create a solid yet concealed edge of the passage opening. The precision and neatness of the construction opening, into which the AKTIVE concealed frame is installed, and the carefulness during its assembly are very important. The AKTIVE model is produced in two types – the groove-frame AKTIVE 25/15 and the non-grooved AKTIVE 40/00. “The combination of both frame variants is an ideal choice if you need one set of swing doors oriented to open towards each other and another set opening away from each other, which is the so-called reversible or double-sided opening,” says Petr Paksi and adds: “From the visible side, both doors and the partition can thus be in the same plane.”

The internal aluminum profile also allows for the insertion of an external subtle aluminum frame measuring 17 mm in width, and this option is utilized by the second type of concealed frame – the EMOTIVE model. The function of the frame is not only design-oriented but also practical – it protects the edge of the passage opening from mechanical damage and is flush with the wall. In its basic version, the frame and the visible frame are finished in anodized aluminum, but it is also possible to customize it in any RAL color. This type of frame also allows for double-sided, so-called reversible opening of the doors.

Concealed frames are intended for swing doors. In the case of choosing doors that slide into a building pocket, a casing-free design can also be selected, represented by the casing-free building pockets AKTIVE and EMOTIVE. A consistent design of the interior can thus be maintained even when combining both types of door leaf opening.
