Prague - The Office of the General Commissioner for the Czech Republic's participation at the World Expo 2015 in Milan is again looking for a contractor for the national pavilion. Today, it announced a substitute tender because no one applied in the first round. The General Commissioner Jiří Potužník informed ČTK about the announcement. The office is seeking a comprehensive solution for the Czech participation in the tender. This includes the creation of the pavilion, architectural concept, project documentation, obtaining permits for the realization of the pavilion, implementation of the internal exhibition, operation, and maintenance of the pavilion. The result should be a temporary structure that will be dismantled after the Expo concludes. The deadline for submissions from those interested in creating the pavilion will end on December 2, with the best proposal to be selected on December 13. Preparations for the Czech participation are behind schedule. According to government material, the Office of the General Commissioner for the future Czech participation is convinced that the project can be completed on time despite the delays. The budget for the event is expected to range from 180 to 210 million crowns, of which 70 million will come from the previous world expo in Shanghai, China, and 60 million from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The remainder is to be covered by other partners or the private sector. Last year, the government expressed its consent to participate in the next World Expo, with the condition of the first involvement of the private sector in co-financing. The exhibition of the pavilion is expected to include a thematic Life Laboratory, a national section, multimedia projection, and a restaurant. The interior should reflect the results of Czech science and align with the theme of the World Expo, which is "Food for the Planet, Energy for Life."
