At the meeting of the expert jury, the family house in Chvalíkovice designed by Tomáš Bindr (Atelier 38) was selected from six nominated buildings and renovations. The jury agreed to award this house based on discussion and subsequent voting. The location of the building in the landscape, the quality of the interior spaces, and the connection of the interior with the exterior were particularly appreciated. One of the main reasons for awarding the prize was the high quality of architecture, a sensitive approach to the landscape and the materials used, as well as the undeniable impressiveness and atmosphere of the building. The jury also appreciates the courage of the investors to stand against the declining standardized architecture and to have an unusual, innovative, quality house built. The award will be presented to Ing. arch. Tomáš Bindr by a representative of the civic association Za Opavu on December 22, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the site where Olbrich's house stood in Opava, now Ratibořská Street in front of the bridge.
statute The prize will be awarded for a quality architectural achievement and for a quality renovation that have been carried out in the Opava region during the period between two decisions on awarding the prize. The prize will be presented to the winner(s) on the birthday of J.M. Olbrich - December 22.
