Kutná Hora – The Central Bohemian Region Gallery (GASK) in Kutná Hora is announcing a new tender for the reconstruction of the former stable into a conference center. No one applied for the first tender, gallery director Jana Šorfová told ČTK today. In the past, the building served as a riding school for Austrian officers, and today visitors park in it. According to Šorfová, there are plenty of parking spaces available in the area.

"No one applied for the first tender. It has been announced again, and hopefully, we will be able to find a construction company," Šorfová said. The estimated cost of the contract is 18 million crowns excluding VAT.

The former stable is to be transformed into a multifunctional hall, where conferences and cultural performances will be held. The capacity can be nearly 800 seats, of which half should be for seating.

According to the regional councilor for culture Karel Horčička (ČSSD), the hall will also be available for rental, thus representing a new source of income for the gallery. Šorfová previously pointed out that in the summer, if the weather is unfavorable, opera performances held outdoors can be moved inside, and it will not be necessary to cancel them.

The Central Bohemian Region Gallery is located in a former Jesuit college. It focuses on visual arts of the 20th and 21st centuries. In addition to permanent collections, it organizes a number of exhibitions and accompanying programs.
