Kutná Hora – The reconstruction of the former stable into a conference center at the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region (GASK) in Kutná Hora is nearing completion. The costs have exceeded 30 million crowns, and the occupancy permit is expected to be issued in March, said the gallery director Jana Šorfová to ČTK.

In the past, the building was used as a riding hall for Austrian officers, and after the establishment of the gallery, it was used for parking. According to Šorfová, there is sufficient parking space in the area.

The aim of the project was to create a multifunctional hall that will serve not only for conferences but also for cultural performances. In summer, during bad weather, operas or theatrical performances organized outdoors can be moved indoors without the need for cancellation.

However, greater usage is expected to occur, likely in the next season, due to the coronavirus pandemic. For the same reason, there will be no rush for the grand opening, which will likely be in April, according to Šorfová. The gallery will also present the renovated café on this occasion. "We will have plenty of new things, along with online broadcasts and projections onto the building from the garden," added the director.

The Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region is located in a former Jesuit college. It focuses on visual arts from the 20th and 21st centuries. In addition to permanent collections, it organizes numerous exhibitions and accompanying programs.
