Moravská Třebová will announce a competition for the design of the area after the Miltra dairy

Moravská Třebová – Moravská Třebová wants to announce an architectural competition for the future shape of the area after the Miltra dairy. The abandoned facility was purchased by the city in 2020 for 11 million crowns and aims to transform it into a cultural center. The sensibility of the investment in modern facilities for leisure activities has also been confirmed by an analysis conducted by a company hired by the city hall, said Mayor Miloš Mička (Change for Třebová) today.

"At the moment the city acquired ownership of the former Miltra dairy building and the former weaving mill, we were considering how to utilize the area. The consensus was clear – to designate it for the territory of a future center. In the first months, we discussed a cultural hall and facilities for cultural services," Mička stated.

The hall is expected to have a capacity of 250 seated or 500 to 600 standing visitors, while the cinema will accommodate 80 viewers. In addition, the new center should also include spaces for the city library and a museum depository.

The competition is expected to result in a comprehensive solution for the area, including traffic connections and a series of steps that will need to be taken. The winning proposal should be known in the autumn and will serve as a basis for further project documentation and the commencement of construction works. According to the mayor, architects should assess whether it makes sense to preserve at least the original building with a gabled roof in the middle of the site, as the other production halls are in poor condition and likely need to be demolished.

Costs are estimated to reach up to 260 million crowns. The city hopes to obtain grants for the reconstruction. Due to the high price, the construction will likely be divided into several phases over five to six years.

The site is located on Jiráskova Street. It is near the city center and adjoins the park by the city museum. The city currently lacks suitable cultural and social facilities.
