Design of Simple Seating Furniture
Examination task. Design of simple seating furniture – stump seat, stool, bar seat made using any technology and from any material. The basic task was to move a person from a stump to a designed object intended for sitting. The simplest route pointed towards a stool. The direction is clear, but the outcomes are varied, just like people. The idea, function, and appearance were important.
During the semester, two other tasks were also addressed - the design of a Nordic book stand and a collection of drinking glasses for the Zichovec brewery.

themes: stool, Nordic literature stand, beer set I felt a very pleasant sensation from the Jaroš, Gonzalez studio (2nd – 5th years). Everything felt coherent, clear, and concise. I appreciate the unified form of the individual presentations, both in the banners and the physical models. All projects were well-developed, the installation itself was clear, and the stool models (which could also be tried out) were of a very good standard. It is evident from this studio that it is well-led, organized, and that the students are motivated. From the displayed presentations, it was also clear that there is an emphasis on individuality and the creative process; if I were back at the faculty as a student, I would gladly apply to this studio. The entire jury agreed without the slightest hesitation on the nomination and also on awarding the Lead Dušan for the best studio in the design category to this studio.

Due to the similarity of the projects and assignments, the different studios became comparable in their main aspects, and the comparison revealed differences in the quality of teaching, management, and presentation ability. Without the slightest doubt, we decided on the nomination of the Jaroš, Gonzalez studio – perhaps only with the discussion of whether it should be 1st or 2nd – 5th year, whom we should nominate. Given that the head of both studios is the same, the issue became moot. We were pleased with the presentation of the 1st year with a clear assignment and an identifiable technology that all students were to familiarize themselves with and encompass. We appreciate the unified presentation and overall high level of the entire preparatory studio. The studio for the 2nd – 5th year, in the same spirit, demonstrates a high level of design and presentation within the main assignment. A stool as an object on which I can sit or lean against. It is evident that the students are motivated and well-lead towards a successful final result, again through the form of unified presentation and a high standard in the execution of submitted works. Thus, the Lead Dušan is awarded to the Jaroš, Gonzalez studio!
