The construction of the year in the Liberec region is the Port hotel by Máchovo Lake

Liberec - The Construction of the Year for the Liberec Region 2013 is the Port Hotel at Máchovo Lake in the Českolipsko area. The renovation and extension of the hotel, designed by architect Senka Příhodová, succeeded both with experts and in public voting. CTK was informed about this today by the spokesperson of the regional office, Jiří Langer.
    "Architecturally, it is a perfectly and sensitively designed extension of the original building from 1931," Langer stated. According to him, the new part of the hotel complements the original structure sensitively and expands its capabilities and functionality. Before the renovation, it was a three-star hotel with 27 rooms; since last summer, it has been a four-star accommodation facility with 62 rooms.
    The jury ranked the construction of the seven-story Building L at the Technical University in Liberec in second place. The construction of the new research and development center for nanomaterials and advanced technologies cost 655 million crowns. In third place was the neutralization and decontamination station in Stráž pod Ralskem. "The construction is exceptional for its technology, which has no equivalent in the world and was developed in collaboration with the technical team of the station and the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague," Langer mentioned.
    This year's 9th edition of the Construction of the Year competition for the Liberec Region was record-breaking, with 15 constructions registered. The interest from voters was also record-breaking, with 1384 people casting their votes. Hotel Port received 386 votes, while the second extension of the municipal swimming pool in Liberec had 30 votes less.
    Last year, the construction of the year in the Liberec Region was a private villa in the Vesec neighborhood of Liberec. The most popular among the public was the multifunctional center Sever in Cvikov, created by renovating the former Art Nouveau hotel.
