Valašské Meziříčí – The design of the planned transportation terminal and city hall in Valašské Meziříčí in the Vsetín area will arise from an architectural competition. CTK was informed today in a press release by the spokesman of the Valašské Meziříčí city hall, Jakub Mikuš. The buildings are to be located in the area of the former Křižanova sawmill.
The city has plots of land in the area covering 27,000 m². Two years ago, it announced an urban planning and architectural competition for their use. The design by Miroslav Moll, Jiří Příhoda, and Soňa Stromšíková won. "They defined the placement of individual buildings, which are key for us, and subsequently developed a land use study. Within the city hall, in collaboration with architects and councilors, we then sought the most suitable options for further steps. Ultimately, we decided to announce an architectural competition for the design of the most important buildings, particularly the transportation terminal, city hall, and the avenue of Emilie and Jan Křižan,” said Mayor Robert Stržínek (ANO). The competition should be announced soon, with results expected in ten months. The winner will then develop an architectural study.
The city will also announce a public procurement for the construction of a parking garage in the area. "All of the mentioned buildings are very important for Valašské Meziříčí, and therefore we do not want to underestimate their preparation. The reason is also the fact that we estimate the costs to be around 800 million crowns. I believe that with the recently approved procedure we will obtain quality design solutions that will subsequently lead to design activities and construction,” Stržínek stated. In the future, the city plans to build apartment buildings on the remaining part of the land.
