The Vienna Architectural Center has approached ten Japanese architects - Jun Aoki, Terunobu Fujimori, Sou Fujimoto, Hiroshi Hara, Toyo Ito, Klein Dytham Architects, Kengo Kuma, SANAA, Tezuka Architects, Yasuhiro Yamashita - to design temporary accommodation in the town of Raiding (Burgenland), which is the birthplace of composer Franz Liszt. The resulting projects draw from the individual feelings of the town at the Austrian-Hungarian border. During the Liszt Festival, they could serve to accommodate ten performers. The exhibition at AzW will present ten studies as well as a film documentary by the commissioner Roland Hagenberg.
The opening will take place on September 10, 2010, at 19:00 at the Vienna AzW (MQ, Hall F3), where Marion Kuzmany, Kenichiro Tanaka, Roland Hagenberg, Terunobu Fujimori, and Hiroshi Hara will speak. The exhibition will last until September 27, 2010, and admission is free.
As part of the exhibition, a workshop with Terunobu Fujimori was held today in Raiding, and on September 11, 2010, there will be another excursion to Raiding, where Terunobu Fujimori, Hiroshi Hara, and Kengo Kuma will give a lecture at the local concert hall.
