Brno - Starting today, works by architect Daniel Libeskind are on display in Brno, who is known mainly as the author of the project for the new building of the World Trade Center in New York. The exhibition titled Architecture is Language was prepared by the Gallery of Architecture Brno. PR manager Milena Hurajová informed ČTK about this. According to her, the gallery aims to familiarize interested parties with various architectural works, their authors, stimulate discussions, and foster interest in architecture. The exhibition will last until September 3.
"Daniel Libeskind is the author of the winning project Memory Foundations, which is the new building of the World Trade Center in New York. It includes, among other things, the Freedom Tower, which is 1,776 feet tall, symbolizing the year of the declaration of independence of the USA," said Gabriel Kurtis from the Gallery of Architecture Brno.
Libeskind was born in Poland and moved to the USA in 1965. In 1989, he won a competition for the design of the Jewish Museum in Berlin and is the recipient of numerous awards. "He received, for example, the Hiroshima Art Prize, which is awarded to artists whose work promotes understanding and peace among nations, and until now, it had never been awarded to an architect," Hurajová remarked. His works can be viewed by the public at the Gallery of Architecture Brno on Starobrněnská Street every day from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
