PARIS - Czech architect and designer Bořek Šípek received the award in the category of Talent for Originality at the Monday's 5th international meeting organized by the Summit of Luxury and Creativity in Paris. In the presence of 300 personalities from the fields of fashion and other sectors involved in creating the world of luxury, the award was presented to him by French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Christine Lagarde. The recognition is considered an acknowledgment not only for Šípek but for Czech design in general. Thirteen other artists were awarded in various categories. The festive evening was the culmination of the meeting, which was also an opportunity for discussions on topics such as innovation in luxury or ethics and luxury. Minister Lagarde emphasized the role of art and crafts in shaping the French and European image in her speech. Šípek recently successfully organized a sales exhibition at the Czech Center in Paris. He also exhibited in Paris in 2002 as part of the then Czech Cultural Season. The Summit of Luxury and Creativity was established in 2001. Its work involves creators from various fields of the luxury world. The Monday event was patronized by the President of the French Senate Christian Poncelet and Minister of Culture Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres.
