Beijing - China today opened the highest and longest "glass bridge", on which people walk on glass panels. The structure, 430 meters long and suspended 300 meters above the ground, connects two cliffs in Hunan province.

The suspension bridge attracts with its unique surface, which is partly made up of 99 three-layer transparent glass panels. According to authorities, up to 8000 people can walk on it daily.

Inspired by a scene from the 2009 blockbuster Avatar, which was also filmed at this location, the bridge has already become a site for unconventional events, yoga sessions, and several weddings even before its official opening. During the last one, the newlyweds were suspended on a rope.

Over the past two years, more than a dozen picturesque areas in China's competitive domestic tourism market have built glass walkways attached to cliff faces or spanning canyons to attract more visitors with the promise of an extraordinary experience.
