Brno - The Brno architectural office Pelčák and partner has failed even at the Regional Court in Brno with its complaint against the results of the tender for the second phase of the reconstruction and completion of the historical complex of the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno. This follows from the court's website. The company’s complaint had previously been rejected by the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS).
The ÚOHS decided on the case two years ago in June. The architectural office's objections were dismissed, among other reasons, because they were submitted late. Its ruling has now been confirmed by the Regional Court in Brno. Pelčák's office particularly protested against the qualification assessment of one of the bidders.
Masaryk University has been renovating the Faculty of Arts complex in phases. Pelčák challenged the tender from 2013. This phase cost nearly half a billion crowns.
The school continues with the renovation even today. The next phase includes a complete rebuild of the entrance to the complex from Arna Nováka Street and the entire Building D. Six floors of lecture halls will be created in its place. Workers will completely strip the building, change the internal layout and staircase, reconstruct technological networks, and add insulation.
In the adjacent Building C, the focus will primarily be on improving poor statics. The building will undergo the replacement of floors, distribution systems, adjustments to the central heating, and partial repairs of the water supply and sewage systems.
Teaching will return to the reconstructed buildings from the autumn semester of 2018. It still depends on the tender processes and the speed of the construction supplier.
