Brno – Brno is finishing the incorporation of changes into the draft urban plan so that it can be publicly displayed at the beginning of November, thus starting the third, officially second repeated, public discussion. According to councilor Filip Chvátal (KDU-ČSL), who is responsible for urban planning, the plan will be publicly displayed no later than November 5. The public can submit objections until December 14, and a presentation with interested parties will take place at the exhibition grounds on December 7, he said to ČTK. Chvátal admits that the time is relatively short, as the city did not originally anticipate the third discussion. Next year, according to the building law, the deadline by which the city must have an approved new urban plan to replace the plan from 1994 will expire.

The city was prompted to hold the third discussion by approximately 50 comments from ministries, state administration bodies, and city districts. One of the changes was the relocation of the land reserve for the city hospital from Kraví hora to Komárov. This was due to a wave of opposition from various quarters against the plan to build the hospital on Kraví hora.

The shortening of the deadlines for the third public discussion and the fact that the city is only now announcing the date for the public presentation has been criticized in a press release by the association Nesehnutí, which has been dedicated to the urban plan and city development for a long time.

At the beginning of September, the city announced a December date without specifying it. "We couldn't announce it earlier until we knew how long the incorporation of changes would take," said Chvátal, adding that the dates were only just being finalized and the draft urban plan is being completed. He emphasized that during the upcoming public discussion, objections can only be submitted to the changes that were incorporated into this draft. Others will not be considered.

Brno urgently needs a new urban plan in order to develop. The old urban plan, despite numerous changes, does not allow for the transformation of some old industrial areas for current needs, primarily for residential construction. The new urban plan also comprehensively addresses flood protection.
