Brno – The Brno City Hall has published an amended draft of the zoning plan, which can be commented on until December 14. A week earlier, on December 7, the second repeated public meeting will take place at the exhibition center, making it the third overall, said city hall spokesperson Filip Poňuchálek in a press release. In the current draft, only certain parts have been amended, and those are the ones that can be commented on, while others cannot. According to the building law, the city must issue the zoning plan by the end of next year.

The draft zoning plan is available both in electronic form and for inspection at the city hall on Kounicova Street in paper form. "For those interested who cannot attend the public meeting, we will also prepare an online broadcast. If someone would like to consult the amended draft with the preparer, they can write to the email [email protected] or call the toll-free line 800 122 212. I am very pleased that we have moved from the approval of individual amendments, such as the expansion of green areas, lowering building heights in peripheral city parts, and removing the city hospital from the Kraví hory location, to the next step of public discussion,” stated councilor for urban planning and development Filip Chvátal (KDU-ČSL). The plan to allocate land for the construction of a city hospital at Kraví hory has become a critical point of the proposal and has sparked very sharp discussions. Currently, the area is allocated in Komárov.

In Brno, the zoning plan from 1994 is in effect, which, even after updates and amendments, no longer meets the current needs of the city and its residents. Almost seven years ago, the city hall leadership, led by Mayor Roman Onderka (ČSSD), prepared what is called a major update, which was annulled by the court due to its unreviewable nature. The current proposal will finally allow, for example, the transformation of some brownfields for housing and other current needs. So far, areas have been designated for industry, but since the 90s, it has gradually been shifting from the wider city center to industrial zones on the outskirts of Brno.
