Čeladná (Frýdecko-Místecko) - The Beskid village of Čeladná will get a new railway station. The current one from the end of the 19th century will be demolished, and in its place, a building with a waiting room, restrooms, a ticket office, and facilities for the staff will be constructed. Pavol Lukša, the mayor of the village, said this today to ČTK. The investor of the project, which will require an investment exceeding 12 million crowns, is the state-owned enterprise Railway Infrastructure Administration. The current station building was opened to passengers in June 1887. Since then, the station has welcomed hundreds of thousands of travelers and tourists. The station is located on an important Beskid line connecting Ostrava, Frýdek-Místek, Valašské Meziříčí, and Český Těšín. In the past, several stations along this route have undergone similar repairs. "In Čeladná, this will be a fundamental change. Primarily to ensure barrier-free access for passengers with disabilities and considering the location of the station in a mountainous environment, the investor has decided to demolish the outdated building and replace it with a completely new construction," Lukša said. He added that the new building will primarily reflect the character of the current structure and the surrounding mountainous environment. The layout of the building, with a usable area of 163 square meters, includes a waiting room and facilities, as well as a storage area and a bike storage room. Construction is expected to start later this year and be completed next year. During construction, a temporary stop will be built at the end of the platform.
