The governor Rath wants a northern bypass of Prague through the Central Bohemian Region

Prague - The future governor of the Central Bohemian Region, David Rath, has come up with a new plan that would overturn eight years of preparations for the northern part of the Prague bypass, according to the Hospodářské noviny server. As the winner of the regional elections, he wants to implement the routing of the communication through the territory of the Central Bohemian Region. The Prague City Hall, managed by the ODS, supports the bypass that runs through the district of Suchdol, writes iHned.cz.
    Rath would prefer to route the missing part of the highway ring further from the metropolis, where, as governor of the Central Bohemian Region, he would have greater influence over the twenty-billion-crown contract. "Our variant is cheaper," the server quotes Rath.
    Prague Mayor Pavel Bém and outgoing Central Bohemian governor Petr Bendl did not want to comment on Rath's idea. If Rath insists on his plan, construction could be delayed at least, the server writes. For the entire bypass to be completed, the territorial plans must be unified to clarify how the new part of the bypass will connect to the existing one.
    Even if Rath is just provoking his political opponents, he has now received support from the Supreme Administrative Court. It has questioned the territorial plan on which Bém's variant is based, iHned.cz reminds us.
    Against the variant of the northern bypass of the metropolis promoted by the city hall are the municipalities in Suchdol and Dolní Chabry and some civic associations. On the other hand, Prague 6, 7, 8, and 13, adjacent Central Bohemian municipalities, several other associations, and the Ministry of Transport support it. "If another variant were to prevail, it would mean at least a five-year delay," warned MD spokesperson Karel Hanzelka.
