The number of visitors to the Hradec Library increased in the new building

Hradec Králové - The Hradec Králové City Library, which has been operating in the reconstructed premises of the former Vertex factory since last March, is experiencing increased interest in its services. For example, last year it was visited by 3,151 more people per month than in 2012, and the number of borrowed documents also rose by 5,792 per month year-on-year. Barbora Čižinská, the library director, told ČTK.
    "All numbers are rising, more books are being borrowed, attendance has increased, and we have more events with more attendees than in 2012. The trend is still on the rise," said Čižinská. Since March until the end of last year, the library in the former factory organized 455 events, including 118 excursions and 23 exhibitions. "It can be said that the entire facility is maximally utilized," Čižinská stated.
    People borrowed 258,715 documents from the former factory in nine months, and from its opening until the end of the year, 103,851 people attended the library and events. "These numbers do not include people who came for an exhibition tour, visited the café, or just viewed the renovated building," Čižinská mentioned.
    The library began operating in the renovated premises last March. The reconstruction of the building, designed by architect David Vávra, cost approximately 200 million crowns, of which more than 130 million was obtained by the city from European funds. The library left its buildings in the city center, and the former main lending library is to be transformed into a community house in the future.
