Liberec - An Israeli company is set to restore the former glory of Liberec's Emperor Franz Joseph I. Spa. They will build a relaxation center, a hotel, and a plastic surgery clinic. Today, city councilors approved the leasing of the historically protected building to them, and after all renovations and new constructions are completed, the city will sell the property to them. Martin Korych, spokesperson for the city hall, stated this to ČTK. According to him, the city has guarantees that the spa will serve the purpose the city intends for it. "We wanted the pool to remain in the spa and for the reconstruction to meet the requirements of the heritage conservators," added the spokesperson. According to him, school swimming lessons will also return to the spa, for a duration of 30 years. The Israeli company Beit Amzaleg plans to build a relaxation center with saunas, massages, and fitness facilities, as well as a luxury small hotel and a private plastic surgery clinic that will also provide rejuvenation treatments. The company was established in 1999 and has been involved in real estate construction in Tel Aviv ever since, while also trading in military goods. According to the Israelis, the opening of the pool is a matter of six to nine months, and the costs for the construction modifications are expected to reach five million crowns. The reconstruction of the relaxation zone for the new healthcare center for outpatient and short-term treatments, such as cosmetic, dental, and eye treatments, will take two years and cost 75 million crowns. The Neo-Renaissance spa in Liberec was built during the peak of the then German city's prosperity and forms an architecturally unique complex with the neighboring North Bohemian Museum and a children's polyclinic. In recent years, the building changed ownership several times, with the new owners investing little. The town hall acquired the heritage site in 2005 at an auction for nine million crowns to prevent further degradation. The city wanted a Health House to be established there. However, its construction would have cost 470 million crowns, which the city does not have. They tried to obtain funding from so-called Norwegian funds, but were unsuccessful.
