Hradec Králové - The representatives of Jičín approved the plan of a group of foreign investors to convert the former barracks in Lipy into a luxury complex with apartments, hotels, shops, a conference center, an ice hockey hall, and a sanatorium. The city also agrees to the future transfer of properties to the developer Global Resources, which wants to invest over two billion crowns in the project. This was stated by today's Mladá fronta Dnes in the supplement for the Hradec Králové region. "Global Resources is a company that will prepare the project in the smallest details, and only then will the investors we already have step in. The capital will be American and Austrian," said Theodora La Fever, a Czech-American with roots in Jičín, who brought foreign investors to the city of her ancestors this spring. Global Resources is interested in the entire former barracks except for the corner building closest to the city center, which the city hall is still reserving for a potential relocation of the district court. The plans also include the reconstruction of the 30-year-old Hotel Start, including the restaurant in the nearby sports complex, and they anticipate the construction of an underground parking lot for 1000 cars. The investor estimates the construction of the complex, including project preparation and the time needed to obtain all the permits, at a maximum of three to four years. Once completed, all facilities should offer approximately 300 new jobs. The city administration is now awaiting further negotiations with Global Resources on the detailed terms of mutual cooperation. "The negotiations will be very complex and will have to take place on several levels. Among other things, we will definitely require that the area is largely accessible to the public and that the investor reimburses the city for at least the costs we will have to incur for the preparation of the project," said Jičín mayor Martin Puš.
