Kroměříž selected a contractor for the project to renovate the mourning hall

Kroměříž - The Kroměříž Town Hall has selected a contractor for the project documentation for the planned reconstruction of the chapel of rest at the municipal cemetery. The company F.E.D. from Velký Ořechov in the Zlin region will handle it. The goal is for Kroměříž to have a dignified place after the reconstruction where people can say goodbye to their loved ones, the deputy mayor Daniela Hebnarová (ODS) told reporters today.

"We expect that the project documentation will be completed by the end of this year, and next year, if the entire plan is included in the new council's budget, we could begin implementation. The project will cost about four million crowns, which is essentially ten percent of the estimated price of the reconstruction," Hebnarová stated.

The city has a study that was created last year by architect Martin Cviček from Brno. He focused on the chapel of rest and its surroundings, including parking spaces, access roads, and landscaping. According to the study, the chapel can be expanded into the current operational areas. The Town Hall plans to remove an unsightly extension from previous years and to change the entrance to the chapel of rest. The adjacent Jewish cemetery will be bounded by a living hedge. The Town Hall also plans to renew the greenery and remove the paved area near the chapel.

Thanks to the modifications, representatives of the city believe that sunny areas with flowers will be created, linking the chapel of rest with the cemetery. The operational part of the chapel will be moved to the road, which is the loudest area. After the reconstruction, the hall will expand to include a gallery, allowing more mourners to fit into the chapel, with seating for about 230. The modifications will also include an expansion of parking areas, which will now accommodate more than 50 vehicles, and the addition of furniture.

The municipal cemetery was established at its current location at the beginning of the 20th century. After World War II, it merged with the Jewish cemetery, and the Jewish chapel was converted into the chapel of rest in 1960, where all ceremonies have taken place since then.
