Prague - The Metropolitan Plan of Prague will likely be completed by architect Roman Koucký, who will again become the head of the team at the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR). On Wednesday evening, he was recommended by the selection committee. Ondřej Boháč, the acting director of IPR, stated this, noting that Koucký's appointment still needs to be confirmed. The committee was choosing from five candidates, one of whom was former mayor Jan Kasl.
Koucký resigned from his position in September this year after the director of IPR, Petr Hlaváček, was dismissed. After Hlaváček's dismissal, practically all members of the team working on the plan submitted their resignations. However, Koucký effectively stopped leading the working group already in July this year. At that time, he was dismissed by Hlaváček at the request of the city leadership.
IPR and the city hall searched unsuccessfully for the team leader for several months. One of those approached was, for example, the developer of the Plzeň urban plan, Irena Králová. She declined the offer.
Roman Koucký studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University from 1980 to 1985. As an architect, he is the author of, for example, the Troja Bridge in Prague, the Mariánský Bridge in Ústí nad Labem, and the reconstruction of Fárova House in Slavonice.
The Institute is tasked, among other things, with preparing a new urban plan and planning the development of the city. Its annual budget is approximately 300 million korunas.
