Jihlava - According to experts, the most successful new constructions in the Vysočina region last year were the annex of the retirement home in Ždírec, the wastewater treatment plant near Kostelec, and the administrative building of Moravian Blacksmiths in Jihlava. Among renovations, the title of Building of the Year for the Vysočina Region 2013 was awarded to the restoration of the basic art school in Jihlava. The results of the 12th annual Vysočina Building Competition were announced today in Počátky. A total of 19 buildings were submitted to the competition, evaluated in four categories. For the Jihlava basic art school, builders renovated the historical building on Masaryk Square according to the design by architect Jaroslav Huňáček. The city hall project cost 80 million korunas, with funding from the EU. Last year, it made it among the 16 finalists of the national Building of the Year competition. The annex of the regional retirement home in Ždírec received the regional title for its suitable architectural solution that respects the existing area. The administrative building of Moravian Blacksmiths in Jihlava won first place among industrial and transportation buildings, and also received the public's choice award. The wastewater treatment plant built along with the sewer system for Dolní Cerekev and Kostelec near Jihlava was evaluated as the most successful among last year's water management and agricultural constructions in the Vysočina region, also thanks to its appropriate integration into the landscape. An accompanying program is a student competition in design. This year, they proposed a multifunctional building in Počátky with medical offices and apartments. The best students from construction fields were also recognized. The Vysočina Building Competition is organized by the Vysočina Construction Association in collaboration with the Union of Entrepreneurs in Construction in the Czech Republic, the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians Active in Construction, and the Vysočina Region.
