Hradec Králové - Six entities have applied for the reconstruction competition of the Elementary Art School Střezina in Hradec Králové, estimated at 160 million crowns excluding VAT. The winner of the tender could be announced in April, and work could start in May. The construction is currently the largest investment project in the city. This was stated today by Deputy Mayor Jindřich Vedlich (TOP 09). The Střezina Art School has around 2000 students and is located in inadequate facilities across three sites in the city.
The main part of the project is the reconstruction of the former pavilion-style Elementary School Jih in Slezské Předměstí. The art school is already using most of the buildings. The construction should take 18 months, meaning everything could be completed by the end of 2018. The commission has so far opened the envelopes with bids in the tender, which will now be evaluated by the assessment committee. Vedlich did not disclose the amount of the submitted bids or the names of the interested parties in the contract.
The reconstruction will provide the Střezina Art School with new multifunctional spaces. For example, a rehearsal room for popular music students and classrooms for the visual arts department. The school's management plans for the complex to become a natural cultural center for the city of one hundred thousand in the future. Vedlich added that the art school has been waiting for its modern building for a quarter of a century.
As the second permanent building, the Jesličky Theatre will remain for the school, where the literary-dramatic program will continue after reconstruction. The third facility on Na Střezině street will be returned to the city hall by the school.
