Ing. arch. Aleš Kalivoda: Completion of the first phase of the community facility in Dalovice
Karlovy Vary - A record number of buildings and projects have been submitted for this year’s Karlovy Vary Region Construction Competition. Just like last year, the best construction will be decided by both an expert committee and the public. Additionally, people can cast their vote for a restored monument in the region, said Anna Vlášková, manager of the Regional Construction Association, to journalists today.
"This year we have the most registered buildings in the last 15 years. This is the 16th year of the competition. We have 34 buildings registered and eight projects. There are residential buildings, hotels, transport structures, roads, and bridges, civic amenities, and more," Vlášková stated.
Public contracts have the largest representation among the registered buildings and projects. Only Karlovy Vary has submitted six buildings and projects to the competition, and the Karlovy Vary Region even 11. "Some were directly submitted by the Karlovy Vary Region, while others were submitted by builders," added Deputy Governor Jakub Pánik (Czech Social Democratic Party).
The public can vote until June 10 at the internet address www.stavbykarlovarska.cz. Since the start of voting on Monday, over 1800 people have already cast their votes for some of the buildings. This is more than in recent years.
As in previous years, this year the committee selected six restored monuments based on proposals from the region and cities, which people can vote for. This year, the Hartenštejn Castle, Štědrá Castle, the Kreuzinger Public Library in Cheb, the Cheb Granary, the Císař Ferdinand Hotel in Loket, and Loket Castle are presented.
Last year, the main award went to the reconstruction of the castle in Ostrov, while the public favored the construction of the Cibulka lookout tower near Oloví. Among the projects, both experts and the public favored the extension project of the Cheb Library.
