Kyselka - The non-profit organization Lázně Kyselka has begun to modify the surroundings of Mattoni Villa in the area of the former Kyselka spa. The goal is to restore the former château park to its original form, including the waterfall that once existed there, said Miroslav Perout, director of the o. p. s. Lázně Kyselka, today to ČTK.

In the first months of this year, employees cleaned the entire château park from the parking lot to Mattoni Villa. At the same time, an inventory of trees in the vicinity of the villa of the founder of Kyselka spa is being conducted, Perout stated.

"We are waiting for a hydrogeological survey, as water flows in from the forests and the entire park is flooded. It needs to be diverted, stabilized, and returned to the first waterfall, because next to the parking lot, there is a clearly visible larger Mattoni waterfall after tree felling, which was a natural park and connected to a small cascading pond system below," Perout said.

After the restoration, the park next to Mattoni Villa is expected to become an entrance gateway for visitors to the former spa. Although the park itself is not a cultural monument, according to Perout, it is an integral part of the area.

Rescue work on the buildings of the former spa, which were threatened with collapse just a few years ago, is also continuing. "Currently, artistic and craft elements are being installed on Vilemín, an ornamental spire with a gilded weathervane. Large forged bull's eyes measuring 1.6 to 1.8 meters will be installed," Perout said. Work is also underway to restore Jindřich's Courtyard, where the reconstruction of the roof and tower began last year.

The o. p. s. Lázně Kyselka was established in 2013. Its founders were Vladimír Lažanský, the municipality of Kyselka, the city of Karlovy Vary, Karlovarské minerální vody, and the company RIS. The last two companies transferred properties in the former spa area to the o. p. s. Karlovarské minerální vody then contributed an additional 20 million Czech crowns to the restoration.
