Písek - A large part of the Žižkov barracks in Písek should again belong to the city. The Supreme Court rejected the appeal by the company Terabet, which had previously wanted to build apartments on the site. According to the court's decision, however, the purchase agreement between the municipality and the company is invalid. This verdict was previously announced by both the district and regional courts, and the Supreme Court has confirmed it. Representatives of the city leadership told reporters today. "The company Terabet can now file a constitutional complaint against the decision issued by the Supreme Court to the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic within two months of delivery," said Václav Filip, head of the investment and development department. The Terabet company, backed by an Israeli investor, signed a contract with the city in 2010 and thus acquired four hectares of land. The city was bothered that the company did not adhere to the plan and no apartments began to be built on the site. Therefore, the municipality filed a lawsuit against Terabet in 2014. Since then, courts have been resolving the case. "The city council tasked the Urban Planning and Architecture Commission to assess this location and propose a framework for the future use of the entire area of the former Žižkov barracks by the end of June," said Deputy Mayor Josef Knot (TOP 09).
The city still cannot use the northern part of the Žižkov barracks. It is still leased to the Žižkov Center company, and the contract is valid until June 6, 2019. In this case as well, Písek has filed a lawsuit with the district court and is seeking early termination of the contract.
The city is considering that a modern quarter could be created in the area of the Žižkov barracks, which housed an infantry regiment until 2005.
