Prague - The Prague Magistrate will have a map made of places where new sports facilities could be developed. This follows from a document that Prague councilors are supposed to discuss on Tuesday. The document will be prepared for the city by the municipal organization Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) and is expected to be completed by the end of February next year.
The document is meant to build on the sports development plan for the capital city that was approved this year for the years 2018 to 2020. It lists areas where there is a lack of sports facilities and also describes trends in the sports environment in Prague.
In order for the plan to be implemented, it is necessary, according to the document intended for the councilors, to create a map of locations suitable for potential construction. "The main criterion for selecting plots should be compliance with the valid zoning plan,” states the document. The plots must also be owned by Prague and be well accessible by public transport.
In the future, the document created by IPR will serve as one of the bases for the magistrate's sports development plan for the years 2020 to 2025.
Prague councilors decided on Thursday that the magistrate would provide investment grants to city districts for the development of sports facilities. The municipalities will share approximately 36.38 million crowns among themselves. Each of them could apply for a grant of up to one million crowns. A total of 27 out of 38 municipalities that applied for the grant will receive it.
