Prague – The Prague City Hall will prepare a study on the supply of technical infrastructure networks (water, sewage or heating) in the area of Bubny-Zátory, where a new district will be created in the future. The document will be completed by the end of this August and will cost 1.5 million CZK. This follows from a document approved by Prague city councilors today. A completely new district covering an area of 110 hectares will be created here. Up to 25,000 people will live here, there will be administrative buildings, and a new park will be established.
The study will examine and propose the locations of corridors, facilities, and objects of technical infrastructure. It will address both backbone and distribution and branching networks. The existing network routes that currently cross the area will also be revised. The aim is to ensure conflict-free placement of networks while leaving enough space in the streets for planting greenery. In Prague, engineering networks underground often hinder the planting of street tree lines.
"The study will include a framework schedule for the implementation of individual intentions and a financial overview, both for the realization of backbone technical infrastructure systems and for ensuring supplies for individual building blocks and facilities," the document states.
The material will also address cooling and heating for the locality. "Interestingly, it will check whether it is possible to utilize the temperature difference from the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant (ÚČOV), which is nearby. A previous small study examined whether the entire Bubny could be heated and cooled using this facility. This is something that could contribute to fulfilling climate commitments and be a specific technical element of the locality. This method could be very effective," said Deputy Mayor Petr Hlaváček (TOP 09).
A total of 1.8 million square meters of space will be created on the current brownfield of Bubny-Zátory. According to a study previously prepared by the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR), residential and administrative buildings, a park, and a Philharmonic building will be constructed near the Vltavská metro station on line C. The area will also be traversed by railway lines with several railway stops.
