On the weekend of November 9th – 11th, the 9th edition of the International Passive House Days took place, during which interested individuals in energy-efficient housing could visit the owners and builders of passive houses and ask them everything they are curious about in this field.
On the weekend, already completed and inhabited family houses, as well as administrative buildings and training centers, were open to the public, all of which meet passive standards. Visitors could witness how such a passive house is constructed directly on-site, where live window installations, insulation blowing, and Blower-door tests were taking place.
Along with the owners and residents of the houses, there were also architects, designers, and construction implementers present at many locations. In addition to answering the question: "How is it to live in a passive house?", you could also learn what to be cautious about when designing and constructing a passive house, what should not be forgotten, and you could also consult your own projects that are currently being prepared.
This year’s Passive House Days saw over 700 visitors who could explore 48 passive houses. “A total of 12 people and 4 children came to see our house. All visitors either already live in, are building, or plan to build a passive house. Not everyone wants a passive house, but they are interested in the issue, so they appreciated the owners’ willingness and the opportunity to see an inhabited passive house,” describes Jana Mádrová, who participated in house tours in Prague 9 – Vinoř.
The Passive House Center also thanks the homeowners for their willingness and all participants for their involvement in organizing this event. More about the event can be found at http://www.pasivnidomy.cz/akce/dny-pasivnich-domu-2012.html.
