Rožnov pod Radhoštěm (Vsetín region) - The Wallachian Open-Air Museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Vsetín region has selected a firm to prepare the project documentation for the restoration of the burned-down Libušín chalet at Pustevny in the Beskids. The museum's management signed a contract today with the Prague firm Masák&Partner. The documentation is expected to be completed by autumn, after which the museum, which manages the heritage site, will look for a company to carry out the actual construction, spokesperson for the museum Petra Valíčková told ČTK today. Libušín, which served as a restaurant, was designed by the Slovak architect Dušan Jurkovič. The building is part of the ensemble of Art Nouveau folk structures in the Beskids and symbols of Pustevny, having been opened in 1899. The chalet burned down last March. Four firms applied for the project documentation contractor competition. "We are pleased that all of them met the qualification requirements and there was no need to cancel the tender again," said the museum director Jindřich Ondruš. The costs for the documentation are 3.6 million crowns. The fire, which destroyed mainly the right section of Libušín, the artistically most valuable dining room, caused damage of 80 million crowns. According to firefighters, it was caused by an inappropriate chimney structure and flue gas outlet from the tiled stove. "To this day, the official results of the police investigation are not known, and negotiations with the insurance company are not concluded," Valíčková noted. The building was cleared after the fire that broke out on the night from March 2 to 3, the rubble was removed, and it was statically secured. In the summer, a metal structure covered it, which will protect it until the actual restoration.
