The rapid rail and the redevelopment of the railway junction in Brno will not be merged

Brno - The city of Brno will not file a cassation complaint against the decision of the Regional Court in Brno, which revoked the zoning decision for the reconstruction of the railway junction in December. This was decided today by members of the committee, which includes representatives of the city, the region, the investor, and the Ministry of Transport. The committee also agreed that the city rapid transit will not be included in the railway junction reconstruction project, as proposed by the Brno Green Party. This could suspend or completely jeopardize the project, said Brno Mayor Roman Onderka to reporters today.
    "We will continue according to the original request so that the delay is as small as possible. The rapid transit will be a separate project - we have made this resolution repeatedly. Any intervention in the project would trigger a change in the zoning plan, which means a delay of 1.5 to two years. We must use European funds by 2013," Onderka said. According to him, in an optimistic scenario, it is possible to obtain a new zoning decision within six months. This would not jeopardize the investor's original plans to apply for the first building permit in the spring of next year.
    The appeal against the zoning decision was filed by participants in the proceedings who were not satisfied with how the officials from the Brno-Central construction office dealt with their objections to the construction. However, they were unsuccessful at the appellate authority, which was the Brno city hall. They were finally vindicated by the regional court, which annulled not only the city hall's decision but also the entire zoning decision.
