Prague - The Chamber of Deputies and the Senate will traditionally hold an open house on May 8, the state holiday that commemorates the end of World War II in Europe. People will have the opportunity to visit places they usually know only from television footage on Victory Day. In the Malá Strana palaces of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, they will be able to view the spaces where laws are discussed and passed.

The representative halls, meeting rooms, and offices of some parliamentary committees, along with other areas of the Chamber's headquarters, will be accessible from the entrance at Malostranské náměstí. Groups of visitors will be accompanied by guides from the Prague Information Service, who will inform guests about the history of the buildings, architectural curiosities, and their current use during approximately one-hour tours.

The Senate will offer visitors a tour of the most beautiful historical spaces of the baroque Waldstein Palace, guided by attendants. These include the Main Hall, the Knights' Hall, the Audience Hall, the Mythological Corridor, and the Assembly Hall.

In the adjacent Kolovrat Palace, visitors will be able to peek into the Pink and Green salons, where the first republic government and the protectorate government met. Beside the salon, there is a copy of the Munich Agreement, which 80 years ago saw the then Czechoslovakia yield its border territories to the Nazi regime.

Indeed, historical milestones and anniversaries will be remembered and commemorated with various events in the Senate. One of these is the exhibition "Moments of the Century," which captures, through photographs from the Czech Press Agency, one hundred years since the establishment of an independent Czechoslovak state.

The headquarters of both parliamentary chambers will be open for free from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Last year, on May 8, 3,200 people visited the Senate, while the Chamber attracted 650 interested visitors.
