Třemošnice (Chrudim Region) - A new Catholic church is set to be built in Třemošnice in the Chrudim Region. According to the project by architect and actor from the Divadlo Sklep, David Vávra, it will be constructed by the parish from nearby Ronov nad Doubravou. The Třemošnice town hall is donating city land for the construction of the church building, said Miloslav Macela (KDU-ČSL), the regional councilor for social care, the nonprofit sector, and tourism. "Třemošnice falls under the Ronov parish and the church is seen as an element that shapes the town," Macela stated. Třemošnice has been a town with approximately 3000 inhabitants since 1994, and there has never been a church here, likely due to the fact that the municipality was historically part of the nearby Lichnice castle and constituted its lower town. The owner of the new church will be the Roman Catholic Church; the municipal representatives have already decided that the city will donate its land behind the town hall for the construction. "A contract for a future purchase agreement for a symbolic one crown has been approved," said the town secretary Jana Kočová to ČTK. The construction costs of the church are estimated at about 20 million crowns. "The money could be gathered from sponsors and collections; about 1.5 million crowns have been raised so far. Theoretically, there is also the possibility of obtaining funds from European Union sources, if the use of the building is expanded to include other activities, such as a community center," added Macela. He described Vávra's project as a modern building in the shape of a cross surrounded by a park of the same outline. The church uses Christian symbolism generously with ten windows. Construction is only waiting for funding; documentation is ready for the application for a building permit. New churches have been built in the Pardubice Region only exceptionally in the last 17 years. Since 2003, a modern Evangelical church has been serving believers in Letohrad in the Orlickoústecko area. The community house of the Czech Evangelical Church is unique in that it is the first post-revolutionary Evangelical building in the Czech Republic. A year later, the Ecumenical Church of God's Love in Budislavi in the Svitavy area was consecrated. It is atypical with its heart-shaped ground plan and an interior that is dominated by a view of the surrounding nature. It was created as an ecumenical building that will be used not only by various churches but also by the community. Construction of the sacred object began in the mid-90s by a civic association supported by a private entrepreneur. When it failed to raise funds for completion, it transferred the building to the municipality for a symbolic price, which completed the church with financial support from the Pardubice Region. A new large chapel was also built a few years ago in Studnice near Hlinsko in the Chrudim Region.
