Krnov – In the ground floor of the former physician's villa in the area of the Krnov hospital, which the city unsuccessfully tried to sell years ago, two dental offices will be created. The work, costing 3.3 million crowns, is funded by the city of Krnov, which owns the villa. The offices will be equipped and operated by the Joint Health Facility Krnov, which has the property for free use. The construction work is expected to be completed by the end of October, the city's spokesperson Dita Círová told ČTK.
"Currently, demolition work is underway, partitions and new sanitary facilities are being constructed," said Jan Šrubař from the investment and property management department. There are also plans to replace windows, ceilings, and floors, as well as repair the balcony. The areas under the heavy dental chairs will be reinforced with steel support structures, he added.
The director of the Krnov hospital, Ladislav Václavec, mentioned that the hospital has been looking for dentists who should start working in the new offices in Krnov. "We chose the same approach in Horní Benešov and Vrbno pod Pradědem, where we managed to find colleagues only after some time. We expect that the dentists will begin working at the hospital at the beginning of next year. We will inform the public in due time about the exact opening date of the offices and the registration process,” Václavec stated. According to him, the goal of this activity is to ensure an adequate number of dentists in the region.
The building from 1926 has been deteriorating in recent years and required a complete renovation. The town hall therefore announced its intention to sell the building. The villa with a plot area of 332 square meters was unsuccessfully offered by the city for 4.8 million crowns. The villa was built in close proximity to the hospital according to the design of Opava architect Johann Kalitta. Each floor had one spacious apartment – on the ground floor for the caretaker, on the upper floor for the hospital director, and in the attic for the senior doctor.
The villa is currently used by the Joint Health Facility Krnov. There is a general and occupational medicine practice in it, it is the headquarters of the district association of the Czech Medical Chamber, and the staff of home nursing care and other hospital employees have facilities there. A structural survey of the building from 2018 revealed damage to the exterior plaster, the balcony structure, and the basement walls. Therefore, after the current partial internal reconstruction is completed, repairs are expected to continue.
