Vyškov - The Vyškov Ice Stadium is about to be completed, and skating will begin in the second half of next week. Athletes will be the first to access the ice thanks to the permit for early use of the building, followed by the general public starting in December. This was stated in a press release by the city spokesperson Michal Kočí. The city will pay approximately 138 million crowns for the stadium.

A year ago, there stood a stadium from the 1970s on the site, which was no longer suitable. The decision to demolish it and build a new one was made by the councilors in 2015 when they rejected its reconstruction. Demolition began in mid-January, and after the debris was removed, construction of the new stadium started in the spring. Over 1,000 people worked on the construction, with dozens of companies and craftsmen taking part.

“Of course, it was a complicated process; every construction brings a number of difficulties. However, fortunately, no completely fundamental problems arose. Throughout the entire time, we adhered to the schedule; everything was phased out day by day, and it was essential to coordinate the individual subcontractors,”
stated Tomáš Halas from Vyškov Ice Stadium Company. The company built the stadium and will operate it for 15 years based on a concession agreement.

The new stadium covers an area of approximately 4,000 square meters. The foundation of the building is a self-supporting steel structure 14.5 meters high. The first floor contains dressing rooms, hygiene facilities, technical facilities for the ice surface, and a restaurant. The second floor features a grandstand and a restaurant overlooking the ice.

Since the end of October, the ice has been prepared, and according to the spokesperson, athletes will be able to access it from November 16 based on the permit for early use of the building. “It is important to realize that throughout November, it will still be a construction site with everything that goes along with it. This is a friendly step towards the clubs that had to look for ice in surrounding towns,” said Vyškov Mayor Karel Goldemund (ČSSD). The first public skating is scheduled for December 5. The construction will undergo approval in January.

The Vyškov Ice Stadium Company from Rousínov is a subsidiary of H+H Technika, which builds and operates stadiums in the Czech Republic and abroad. The city will pay nearly 138 million crowns for the stadium. Approximately 127 million will be for the construction itself; the rest covers interest, bank guarantees, or insurance. Vyškov will pay the amount in six installments, with the first payment scheduled for the end of 2018.
