Vyškov - The Vyškov ice rink is visually complete from the outside and inside; builders are continuing with the infrastructure and technologies. In a press release this week, city spokesman Michal Kočí stated this. The city will pay nearly 138 million crowns for the rink, and skating could start around November. It will be open to both athletes and the public.

During the summer, workers installed steel roof arches, insulated the roof by hanging thermal insulation, installed heating for the ice surface, and dealt with water and heating. At the beginning of the last month of summer, the installation of internal insulation of the hall began, and it should be completed in these days.

In September, builders will begin the installation of ice surface cooling technology, followed by its concreting a week later. "The first layer was heating the foundation, then comes the insulation and the concreting of the cooling register of the ice surface. In September, we will also address lighting, air conditioning, and the installation of protective boards on the embedded anchors in the ice surface," said Tomáš Halas from the Vyškov Ice Rink company. The company is building the winter sports hall and will operate it for 15 years.

Everything is proceeding according to plan, and skating should begin sometime in the fall. "The ice rink definitely belongs in the district town; we are glad that it will again serve hockey players, the figure skating club, and the general public starting this fall," said Vyškov mayor Karel Goldemund (ČSSD).

The original rink was from the 1970s, built by people during the so-called Action Z. Its demolition and construction of a new one were decided by the councilors back in 2015, rejecting the option of reconstruction. The main reasons were that there was no building documentation for the rink, and its structure no longer met current standards.

The city will pay nearly 138 million for the rink. Approximately 127 million constitutes the actual construction, and the rest includes interests, three bank guarantees, insurance, and others. Vyškov will pay the amount in six installments, with the first payment scheduled for the end of 2018.
