Édouard François,
Green Architecture?
French architect and urban planner Édouard François will present his visions of "green" architecture, sustainable development, and new forms of ecological housing. Visions that respect the context of the place, cultural heritage, and preserve the contemporary expression of buildings.
Édouard François (*1958) graduated from the Ecole Nationale des Beaux Arts in Paris and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. His renowned buildings include L’Immeuble qui Pousse (or The House that Grows; Montpellier, 2000), Tower Flower (Paris, 2004) – a residential building surrounded by giant flowerpots, the radical Hôtel Fouquet's Barrière (Paris, 2006), and the M6B2 Tower de la Biodiversité that spreads small seeds around, supporting the natural biodiversity of the area (Paris, completion in 2014). He is currently working on "green" projects around the world, including in Morocco, India, and Sri Lanka.
