Aalesund University College received funding last year to build new accommodation facilities for students. In the tender for the supply of five blocks for approximately 90 students and young families with children, Fagus Slušovice won, using FERMACELL fiber gypsum boards in their modules.

The building meets demanding requirements in terms of hygiene, energy, and fire safety (all internal wall and ceiling cladding is made from FERMACELL fiber gypsum boards in EI 30 construction), which are currently imposed on new construction. Fagus has extensive experience with the realization of student dormitories in modular construction (in recent years, they have built student accommodations in Amsterdam, Heidelberg, and Hamm), but according to Martin Tomšů from the company's marketing, this construction was unique in many ways: "We used 3.4 wide modules, each less than 7 m long, and to be able to construct each individual room including the bathroom in a finished state already at our manufacturing plant, we prepared a combined central hot water heating system with electric floor heating, all water distribution was implemented in the required design with leak protection into the walls, outdoor façades were designed in a combination of aluminum cassettes and Nordic spruce, and all terraces and staircases were covered with concrete tiles."

This demanding project involved several months of intensive preparation and planning of all activities. The actual construction lasted approximately 2.5 months, and since August 2011, the dormitory has been fully serving the university students.
