Hradec Králové - The new zoning plan for the city of Hradec Králové will come into effect on March 13, when the statutory period for its publication expires. This was announced today by the city council spokesperson Kateřina Rohlíčková. The plan, which will be a fundamental document for the future development of the hundred-thousand-inhabitant city, has been prepared by the city council since 2009. Until now, the city has been guided in its development by the zoning plan from 2000, which was designed for a ten-year period.

The city representatives approved the new zoning plan on January 27. "A number of related administrative actions followed. On February 26, the zoning plan was published through a public notice. After the statutory fifteen-day period associated with this notice expires, the zoning plan will take effect," said the spokesperson.

The adoption of the zoning plan was one of the priorities of the current city council coalition led by the Hradec Democratic Club and ODS. Its approval was also supported by the opposition made up of ANO, SPD, and the Rozvíjíme Hradec movement. A total of 31 representatives voted for the approval. No one opposed, three representatives abstained from voting, and three were absent or did not vote.

According to the city council, the new zoning plan should create conditions for the development of transport and technical infrastructure as well as civic amenities and take into account the protection of nature and landscapes. The document, created by the authors' association Tomáš Vymetálek Architects and architect Patrik Kotas, develops the current circular layout of the city defined by the plan of Josef Gočár from the first half of the 20th century. The development axis is perceived to be to the west towards the D11 motorway.

The zoning plan is dominated by residential development, and areas for leisure will increase. "These are for example locations in Moravské Předměstí, Třebš and also in the Pouchov-Věkoše area. A change is also occurring in the Northern area, which was more industrial in the past. Primarily it is again about areas designated for housing and the construction of civic amenities," stated the city council.

The zoning plan anticipates further industrial development in the Slezské Předměstí area. New areas for production and storage are expected around the planned northern bypass of the city, so-called northern tangent.
