Superstudio 2019 - registration call

In early March, the 9th edition of the architectural-urban design competition Superstudio will take place in all cities with architecture education in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Unlike previous years, the first rounds will also be publicly accessible in all 6 cities, in addition to the finals. Online registration opens on February 11 at the competition website, and the international finals will be hosted on March 9 in Prague at the renowned CAMP space.

Last year, for the first time in the history of the student architectural-urban competition Superstudio, there was an expansion to Slovakia. A record number of 98 teams participated in the first international edition, addressing the assignment from Dutch architect Marthijn Pool. This year, Superstudio will also take place in all cities with architecture education in the Czech Republic and Slovakia – in Prague, Bratislava, Brno, Liberec, Ostrava, and Košice.

An important conceptual change for this year is a greater openness of the competition towards the public. Therefore, the first rounds in all 6 cities will now take place not in academic settings, but in local social and cultural spaces, where the public is warmly invited to get acquainted with the proposals and visions of the students.

Online registration for two to three-member teams composed of university students, regardless of their field or year of study, will open on the competition's website on February 11, 2019, at 6:00 PM. Teams will typically choose the city in which they will participate in the first round on March 2, which consists of presenting their projects to a professional jury and the public. Students have a strictly defined limit of 24 hours to work on the assignment – they will receive it electronically the day before.

The jury from each city will select the teams that will advance to the grand final on March 9 in Prague's Center for Architecture and Urban Planning – CAMP, immediately after the presentations. In addition to the glass Superstudio trophy and other prizes, the winning teams will also receive a financial reward of 50,000 CZK.
