The tenth year of the student work competition Bohuslav Fuchs Award took place on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. At the Faculty of Architecture in Brno, the expert jury met in the composition of Ing. arch. Mária Topolčanská, Ph.D., prof. Dr. Ing. arch. Henrieta Moravčíková, and architectural studio ORA consisting of Ing. arch. Jan Veisser, Ing. arch. Jan Hora, MgA. Barbora Zmeková. Students in the jury were represented by Bc. Jaroslav Matoušek, David Zatloukal, and Jan Schleider.
After a morning meeting of all jurors at the Faculty of Architecture, the evaluation of the works displayed in the individual studios could begin. The selection occurred in a classic, two-round manner, where in the first round each juror nominates any number of projects and in the second round, the jurors discuss the selected projects together.
The announcement took place from 7 PM in the hall of the Trojka café at the House of Lords from Kunštát. After the opening speech, Mária Topolčanská took over the general assessment of the displayed projects. This year, projects from studios representing almost every possible approach were selected and awarded, and the present students and studio leaders could listen to a number of insights and suggestions.
The top three works earned their authors not only unique trophies but also a range of material prizes and rewards. One of the main awards was obtained for the winning project "Echosound" by Bc. Karolína Melichárková and Bc. Tereza Buryová. The supervisor of the work was MArch. Ing. arch. Jan Kristek, Ph.D., Ing. arch. Jaroslav Sedlák. Another winning project "Kindergarten in Semily under Varta" was created by a team consisting of Linda Boušková, Ondřej Vik, Nikola Kumstátová, Vojtěch Petr Štýbnar, Ema Pavlovská under the supervision of Ing. arch. David Mikulášek. As the last winning project, the jury selected the work of Bc. Daniel Struhařík, Bc. Štěpán Vašut, and Bc. Ondrej Palenčar “Strategy for Dolní Kounice”, which the jury decided to additionally reward with an excellent chocolate cake beyond the classic prize. This work was created under the supervision of Ing. arch. Pavla Jury and Ing. arch. David Mikulášek.

Both the winning and awarded projects received numerous valuable prizes, primarily from sponsors and partners of this competition. The announcement was followed by casual entertainment and discussion about the projects accompanied by live music from the band Letrourou, grilling, and tasting excellent delicacies from the kitchen of skilled students of the Faculty of Architecture.
The winning and awarded projects are now displayed in the hall of the Trojka café. From February 1, 2016, they will be visible in the mini gallery at the Faculty of Architecture VUT in Brno at Poříčí 5.
The organizer of the Bohuslav Fuchs Award is the Student Community of the Faculty of Architecture (SOFA). The sponsors and partners of the event were the companies XELLA, archiweb.cz, Legia, Sonberk, and FA VUT in Brno.
