The British architect Ben Pentreath was announced as the laureate of the Driehaus Prize for Classical Architecture on January 17, 2023. The most prestigious global award for contemporary traditionalist architects, associated with a cash prize of $200,000, was awarded to him by a committee established by the School of Architecture at the University of Notre Dame in the USA. Its members include architects Stefanos Polyzoides (Dean of the School of Architecture at Notre Dame), Michael Lykoudis (Emeritus Dean of the School), architects and first prize winners Léon Krier and Demetri Porphyrios, architects Melissa Del Vecchio and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, and the founder of the town of Seaside Robert Davis. The public presentation of the award took place on March 25, 2023, in Chicago.

At the same time, The Henry Hope Reed Award ($50,000) for the cultivation and promotion of traditional construction and art was awarded to Adele Chatfield-Taylor (born 1945), an American architect and preservationist and long-time director of the American Academy in Rome (1988-2013), whose historical building in the American Renaissance style by the firm McKim, Mead & White between the Vatican and the Trastevere district has been carefully renovated.

Ben Pentreath graduated in 1995 with a degree in the history of art and architecture from the University of Edinburgh. He subsequently studied at the Prince of Wales's Institute of Architecture (today's King Charles III). He worked for five years in New York, then for the Prince's Foundation, and in 2004, he established his own studio in London, where he currently employs over forty architects, interior designers, and urban and regional planning specialists.

Ben Pentreath became renowned as a co-founder of the influential interior design store Pentreath & Hall in London and also for his work with the British royal family ("Kate Middleton's Interior Designer"). In 2015, he married florist and garden designer Charlie McCormick – both are naturally popular in the LGBTQ community as well. Pentreath has written two books on timeless traditional English residential architecture (English Decoration: Timeless Inspiration for the Contemporary Home, 2011; English Houses: Inspirational Interiors from City Apartments to Country Manor Houses, 2016). His favorite styles are Georgian revival and Classicism, which he enriches with surprising innovative details, emphasizing the harmony of the whole, a sensitive connection to the location, and environmental friendliness. From Pentreath's studio come designs for luxurious rural residences as well as comprehensive residential neighborhoods, as well as multifunctional buildings located in various parts of Great Britain. The projects include new constructions as well as renovations and adaptations of historical buildings.
