Brno - The indoor swimming pool at Kraví hora in Brno is back in operation today after nearly four months. In mid-October, one of the largest renovations since the pool's inception was completed. The work, costing more than ten million crowns, included the repair of showers, ventilation systems, and the installation of new lighting and an elevator that is also accessible for the disabled. This was announced in a press release by the city district Brno-střed, which manages the facility.

The modernization of the swimming pool was necessary due to the ending lifespan of some technologies. The facilities also required updates. Work began at the end of June and was supposed to be completed by the end of the summer holidays. However, it ultimately took longer. "The workers encountered unexpected complications, specifically the very poor condition of the waterproofing in the walls and floors. As a result, it was necessary to adjust the project and extend the work by about a month and a half," said Roman Kotěra, the deputy mayor of the district (ODS).

The attendance at the Kraví hora facility has long been among the highest in the city. According to city district spokesman Michal Šťastný, around 300,000 people visit annually.

Nearly 350,000 people visited the repaired and expanded complex of Lužánky Pools last year. "The modern sports facility continues to attract more visitors. The expansion with a new 25-meter and 16-meter pool and the renovation of ceilings and the diving tower at the 50-meter pool have proven to be very beneficial investments," said Martin Lísal, spokesman for the city company Starez, which manages Lužánky. According to him, the complex is used by the public, swimming clubs, and schools. Swimming competitions are also held in the pool. Over 1,700 people visit daily.
