Brno - The Brno-Sever district plans to renovate the Lesná Polyclinic for 250 million crowns. The district mayor, Rostislav Hakl, told ČTK. The city hall wants to start the tender for the contractor by the end of the year. The current state of the building is criticized by the opposition KDU-ČSL. According to district councilor Petr Hladík, the building is outdated and marred by graffiti.
    "We are preparing the project documentation. We estimate the repair time to be three years," Hakl stated. According to him, in the first phase, the facade of the building will be repaired, which will also receive new windows and insulation.
    The district expects costs of around a quarter of a billion. "We will secure the funds from the district. We will also apply for a grant from the city hall, the South Moravian Region, and the Ministry of Health," Hakl added. The city hall has not yet taken a stand on the planned renovation. "Once we receive the request from the district, we can say more. But that hasn't happened yet," said Brno spokesperson Pavel Žára to ČTK.
    The opposition KDU-ČSL points to the poor condition of the building. "The polyclinic is from the seventies, but over the years, no significant investments have been made in it," said councilor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL) to ČTK. "The polyclinic is one of three managed by the city. The others are already private entities, and therefore it deserves a renovation. The city hall is now preparing the renovation of the Zahradníkova Polyclinic, but the Lesná building is also important," Hladík added.
    In addition to the Lesná and Zahradníkova Polyclinics, Brno also manages the Bílý dům Polyclinic, which is currently used by youth. The first phase of the renovations of the Zahradníkova Polyclinic, costing 16 million crowns, will commence in the coming weeks. The total renovation will cost around 360 million crowns. After that, the city will transfer care from the Bílý dům to the Zahradníkova Polyclinic. One of the two buildings will provide healthcare for youth and the other for adults.
