Olomouc – The Office for Representation of the State in Property Affairs (ÚZSVM) today announced the fourth round of the selection procedure for the sale of the extensive complex of the Hanácké barracks in the historic center of Olomouc, which could not be sold in the electronic auctions in September, November, and January of this year. In the new round of the auction, the minimum price has been reduced from 262 million crowns to 249 million. The electronic auction for the Hanácké barracks is scheduled from March 1 to March 2. Michaela Tesařová, spokesperson for ÚZSVM, told ČTK today.
Anyone who meets the conditions and pays a deposit of 25 million crowns by February 28 can register for the March electronic auction for the Hanácké barracks. "For the auction to be successful and bring a winner, at least one bid must be made, and that must be at least the announced minimum price of 249 million crowns. Further bids must increase the amount by at least 100,000 crowns," Tesařová stated.
In the third round of the electronic auction in January, only one interested party registered, but did not make a bid. The same outcome occurred in the previous two rounds of the selection procedure. ÚZSVM informed Palacký University in Olomouc about the auction's result, which had previously expressed preliminary interest in purchasing this complex directly. Egon Havrlant, spokesperson for Palacký University, told ČTK in January that negotiations regarding the Hanácké barracks should continue. "We will continue to negotiate in cooperation with the region and the city. We definitely want to work together to ensure that this historically valuable object is used appropriately," he stated.
The Hanácké barracks were used by the army for 170 years and have been empty since 2013. The building has an office area of over 2,000 m². Initially, there were considerations for relocating hundreds of state office employees who currently operate in various locations in Olomouc into the building. However, according to the Ministry of Defense, further use for state officials would be more expensive than selling it and potentially building a new administrative headquarters.
In 2014, the Olomouc Region expressed interest in the Hanácké barracks, intending to create storage for a museum and library, offices for organizations managing European grants, and a shop for regional foods. The regional administration eventually abandoned this plan.
